Hello, Convection currents in the Earth occur in the mantle. The core of the Earth is extremely hot, and material in the mantle close to the core is heated. Convection is the name for a means of heat transfer, as distinguished from conduction and radiation.  In the atmosphere, hot air rises on convection currents, circulating and creating clouds and winds.
