Chemical weathering is one of the types of weathering that occurs in rocks. It is defined as the GRADUAL weathering or wearing away of rocks due to chemical reaction of rain water and the minerals that are present in rocks.

Chemical weathering is said to be a GRADUAL weathering process because as the rain water or air reacts with the minerals in the rock, some parts are worn away, these parts are carried away by agents of weathering ( rain or wind) and fresher areas are exposed for more weathering and the process continues.

Chemical weathering is a GRADUAL AND CONTINUOUS PROCESS that occurs over a certain period of time before the rock is completely worn or weathered away.
