Slavery was an immense problem that drove to the Civil War. South states desired to withdraw from the Union, but the North viewed it as an unauthorized insurgence and an ordinance of treason. After the Emancipation Proclamation was acknowledged, the fight of Gettysburg happened.  This battle was fought for 4 years. The North eventually succeeded, and slavery was prohibited. It directed to the enrichment of the central administration in the democracy.
