After the countries of Central America gained independence, instead of prospering as the people wanted to, the countries were in terrible condition. The economies of the Central American countries were in a very bad place, with the industry being on a very low level, a lot of facilities being destroyed, and the main sector being agriculture.

Both led to large scale violence, destruction, and focus on gaining power by all means instead of progress.
