Human activities such as urbanization, farming, logging, industrialization , etc. have a significant impact on river landscapes and rivers .

URBANIZATION :  Surfaces that were normally permeable have become impermeable due to the use of materials such as concrete . Water cannot infiltrate these surfaces which leads to increase in surface run- off .  Drains quickly transfer water to rivers leading to increase in river discharge.Due to more water entering the river channel  rivers are more likely to flood .Now  humans are more likely to manage the rivers to reduce the risk of flooding . The construction of river defenses have significant impact on rivers and river landscapes.

INDUSTRIALIZATION : The development of industries also leads to increase in impermeable surfaces  leading to greater surface run - off.

Pollution from factories and vehicles can lead to increase in chemical weathering and thus making rainfall more acidic .

AGRICULTURE :

Farming also have bad effects on rivers and river landscapes in number of ways . Water is extracted from rivers for irrigation  which leads to reduce in volume of water within the channels . Deposition is likely to occur with decrease in the volume of water in the rivers.
