Do you think that the HDI is a good criteria for determining the development of a country why or why not?

It is a good idea because HDI is a robust indicator that contains three important measures or indexes that say a lot about the quality of life in a country:

GDP Per Capita: which is national GDP divided by the population, and gives us a general idea of the level of income that people in a specific country earn.

Life expectancy: a measure that tells us about the healthcare system of the specific country, how diseases are treated, and if there are any epidemics.

Years of education: education is a strong indicator of development because educated people are more productive than less educated people most of the time. Years of education indicates if people in said country have finished elementary and secondary school, and if they have had any access to tertiary education.

Overall HDI is not a perfect criteria for determining development, but as far as development indicators go, is one of the strongest.
