Which of the following correctly describes advantages or disadvantages of locating new pumping area near the oases? a. Because the oases are areas of natural discharge from the aquifer, the hydraulic head is probably close to the land surface. This would reduce pumping costs and be an advantage.
b. Oases are recharge areas for the aquifer. Therefore, locating agriculture nearby could lead to contamination of the entire aquifer with fertilizer and pesticides.
c. An advantage is that were are likely existing settlements near oases, so this could help with the infrastructure (roads, etc) for new settlements around the pumping areas.
d. Cones of depression created by the new pumping are likely to affect the nearby area. So locating the pumping near oases could cause the hydraulic head to drop at the oases and cause them to go dry. This is a disadvantage.
