Based on the relative positions of the sun and earth, explain why earth has climate zones and seasons.

As we know the Earth is on a tilt. So when Earth revolves around the sun we rotate also. Making it so that as we spin, one hemisphere will get the most sunlight. Therefore that hemisphere will have summer at that time. So for example say that the Northern hemisphere is getting the most sunlight right now, so that hemisphere is now going to have summer. While the Northern hemisphere has summer that means that the Southern Hemisphere is having winter. But also as we rotate then at one time the Northern will have fall and the southern will have spring. Or visa versa. Climate mostly moves with the sunlight and depends on the area.

Mantle convection is the process that drives plate tectonics. the theory of plate tectonics states that the crust is divided into plates that float on the semi molten mantle below. the circular motion of the magma as it slowly rises and falls or move though convection cells drags the plates along causing them to move. the heat source in the lamp would represent the earth's core. the core is the source of energy that drives convection in the mantle. the lava represents molten magma under the earth's surface. if the lava lamp had floating pieces they would move as the circular motion of the lava in the lamp as it rises and falls would move them along the surface. these floating pieces would represent pieces of the earth's crust. 

Earths place in space
