The Mexican independence resulted from the conflict between the Mexicans and Spanish. A catholic priest by the name of Miguel Hidalgo y Castilla led the Mexicans into a war with the Spanish, and he chose a perfect timing for this, when Napoleon was in war with Spain, so the Spanish troops were much weaker, and the Mexican managed to win and gain their independence.
