This is also important because we do not know yet the effect of the polar ice melting on ocean currents and weather patterns.

Another issue related to global warming is the acidification of oceans: this is a phenomenon that occurs when the balance of substance in the ocean is disrupted, causing more acid ions to run free, making oceans more acid. This is a problem because many of the basic life forms that live in the oceans are very sensible to Ph changes.
