I would say air pressure also known as wind. And then also the evaporation from the oceans as it moves in and becomes rain. That’s what I would say at least hope this helped good luck!

Water flows along the east coast and across the western tropical pacific towards south america, while they both are directed towards that way,  el niño does not directly affect the southern flow of water along the coast.
