Personality remains stable depending on situations and age.  If a young child experiences a traumatic event there's a possibility of it affecting the child's persona in a negative way. Pretty much everyone could be a victim to a personality change if they went through a life changing event. Personality will remain stable if the person is healthy, and in a decent mental state.
