According to the present research study of Drexel University, a 10% increase in cigarette price has resulted in 20% decrease of smokers. The decrease is found more to the old aged persons of age 44-84.

The chain smokers tend to smoke 3-4 packets on a daily basis, so an increase in cigarette price could affect their smoking habit, decreasing the number of packets they have daily.

According to another study the younger generation has more money issues thus it prevents them from smoking rapidly.
