The atlas is the most superior cervical vertebra of the spine. It supports the globe of the head -- the skull. It connects skull and spine.

The axis is the second cervical vertebra and it forms the pivot which carries the head, and it rotates.

First thoracic vertebra is the first out of twelve thoracic vertebrae that forms the central and the biggest section of the spinal column.

Transverse process is a lateral process of vertebra.

Spinous process is a projection formed from bones. It's where the laminae of the vertebral arch joins and provides attachment for the muscles and ligaments of the spine.

Intervertebral disc is located between adjacent vertebrae in the vertebral column. Each disc forms a joint in order to allow slight movement, and it acts as a ligament to hold the vertebrae together.
