What prevents people with mental illness from getting ?

•No Availability or resources due to location. Sometimes even though someone have enough money, or insurance that cover its, might not be around any offices, or places where therapy is offered.

•Finances. If you don’t have insurance, therapy can be very pricey. People shouldn’t have to choose either to eat or get treatment. Especially in poor households, mental illness is more prone to occur, yet if they don’t have insurance, most don’t have the money.

•Parents/guardian. This one particularly is regarding children. Some parents don’t believe in therapy and/or don’t believe their child needs it. This is difficult because until a child turns in 13 (this may vary in different states) the child cannot get therapy or mental health medication without parent/guardian permission

•Stigma/Undiagnosed/refuse. Sometimes the stigma with mental health prevents people from going to therapy or taking medication. But, this is rapidly changes since more and more people are going to much needed therapy. Sometimes, people don’t think that they need therapy. Most of the time, people don’t know if they have a mental illness until they are diagnosed by a doctor/therapist. This is why even if you don’t think you have a mental illness, you should go to therapy. Everyone needs someone to rant about their problems to.
