Anaerobic means to live or function/thrive in the absence of oxygen.

Anaerobic condition is when the assimilation and utilization of oxygen is greater than its production and synthesis. In such situations, oxygen is not available for Redox reactions.

In the first few seconds of exercise, due to the intensity and suddenness of the exercise, the production of ATP for the activity uses more oxygen than is provided leading to energy production under anaerobic conditions
