Separation anxiety refers to excessive fear or worry about separation from home or an attachment figure.

Separation anxiety can stem from a parent, partner, or a child .Their anxiety may also be related to another underlying mental health condition. The strong attachments form through the time spent with the infant as they grow and began to realize just who the person is a forms a physical and emotional attachment to the child.

Same can be said for the parent they may not need anything from the infant but form a bond and deep love for the child and panic when they do not know what the infant is doing, where they are, and how they feel. Parents realize how fragile and vulnerable the infant is and feel as if they are spefically needed for the child. Thats why things like postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety form.
