Rory is a 5-year-old who is displaying symptoms of a depressive disorder. Given his age, he does not have the cognitive skills necessary to hold expectations of the future, a component needed to explain depression. What else, however, might be contributing to his issues

Following factors can be contributing towards his issues:

1. Significant life situations:

Since he is a kid and he is showing symptoms of depressive disorder which may include loss of a parent or bullying etc.

2. Biological predisposition is the internal quality of a child which makes them more likely to have a particular condition.
