Heat cramps can be defined as the medical condition in which there is a spasm in the muscle of the body. It is caused by the loss of large amounts of salt and water. This excessive loss of electrolytes from the body takes place due to more exercise. It usually subsides after sometime.

Heat cramps are usually associated with the pain in the regions such as cramping in the abdomen regions, leg muscles, calves, arms. This is also associated with intake of lower levels of electrolytes or because there is a loss of fluids from the body during the time of exercise and sweating.

The level of severity is very low when it is compared to the other problems that is associated with the  heat stroke, heat exhaustion and heat fatigue. These conditions are very severe and can lead to the death of the person in case of severe conditions.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are caused because the body has been exposed to heat for a longer duration which the body cannot tolerate.

Heat cramps can subside by the intake of fluids which is  important for the body. The body should be properly supplied with water and electrolytes before and after exercise in order to avoid heat cramps.
