c) When you first go into labor, the uterus begins to contract and her water usually breaks. Hopefully, you get to the hospital before the first stage begins. The cervix starts to thin out, the contractions get the most intense, some women use drugs for pain management, then she starts the next stage. The next stage is the actual childbirth. The woman has to push for the baby to come out of the vagina, and some might get an episiotomy since the skin between the labia and anus might tear. Some situations require a C- section if it’s too dangerous for the mom to push. The third stage is after birth. The umbilical cord is cut and the placenta is taking out.
