Sharjah is a desert where water is present in very low quantity so rice cultivation is impossible because rice needs flooded condition but now scientist produces certain rice varieties such as Asemi (Japonica) and FL478 (Indica) which can be cultivated on saline and poor soil condition and also needs less water. In Sharjah, water is provided to the rice by drip irrigation in order to save water.
