I would tell Paul that he should not care of what others think since he deserves to be able to have a voice. If Paul doesn't change now to become more assertive, he won't he successful in life since many other people are willing to speak up to get what they want, but if Paul doesn't say anything and let everyone gets what they want, everyone will assume that he likes leftovers.
