World Health Organization often referred to as WHO is a health and safety organization. It is a form of a subsidiary to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It was established specifically in 1948 to carry out certain functions amongst which are; championing universal healthcare by giving technical help to various countries. It also regulates the public health risks by establishing international health standards and policies, and as well carries out responses to health emergencies, and facilitates human health and well being.

WHO gets its funding through the countries that are members and some other private donations such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Over the years, WHO have partnered with some leading countries to promote human health and well-being across the globe. Some of how this organization has helped people and made a difference in the lives are by carrying out the distribution of antibiotics drugs and educating the world at large on its effect since the 1950s. It has also helped in the health rehabilitation of the war-devastated countries.

Similarly, through WHO campaigns, the world has now completely eradicated smallpox, made available vaccines for measles, made European countries that are members to be malaria and polio-free amongst others.
