Select one or two locally produced foods and compare it to its counterparts, the same food, at a traditional grocery store. As you compare, note the differences in color, texture, feel, taste, etc. Also compare the cost and the buying experience. What can you find out about both foods, their origins and how they were grown or produced?

When buying lettuce the color in the store is a little washed out, however, when it’s from locally produced the color is bright green. Texture I would say also varies, from your local grocery store it’s crunchy and juicy and a little more crunchy and a lot more juicy when locally produced. When it comes to price, Organic food markets often get a bad rep for being overly expensive, however, i think it’s all about how one is paying a premium as foods aren’t sitting in trucks for long, letting them last longer when bought. Paying more isn’t always the case, one may be able to get a loose head of organic lettuce for less money than conventional lettuce packaged in a bag or tub.
