Do cold drinks or drinks at room temperature empty into the intestines faster?

Cold drinks empty in the stomach slower than room temperature drinks. The reasoning behind that is because colder drinks need to be neutralized to the body's base temperature which is roughly 37°C or 98.6°F to be easily digested by the body. That simply means that the body needs to exert more energy to heat up the cold drink to neutralize it. The slower the metabolism, the slower the processing can go. 

So, the take away or the lesson you can get from this is: drink room temperature drinks even if it is less refreshing! Your body will thank you and it will metabolize better!
