Zero tolerance policies are generally designed to eliminate a harmful element from a community. However, this can be a problem in schools where they are attached to suspensions, and students who violate them in minor ways or accidently find themselves suspended. Why would
those who support zero tolerance policies advocate for them over those that examine specific situations and determine appropriate
consequences?
