Mary, a 50-year-old woman, took over the counter aspirin and NSAIDs in large doses to control pain associated with her non-aggressive rheumatoid arthritis. She developed perforations in her upper GI tract that required most of the body and antrum of the stomach, the pylorus and pyloric sphincter along with the duodenum to be removed.
