During weight training, when should you exhale? on the lift on the recovery before the set after the set

I think the answer to this is on the lift because you are about to lift something heavy so you are going to either hold your breath or you are taking a deep breath and after you lift it up you exhale and drop the lifter and you take another deep breath. You continue to repeat the step till you can't anymore.
