Project: fire escape more than ten americans die in home fires every day. thousands more are injured. people can survive fires in their homes if they are aware of the fire, escape quickly and stay out of the burning house. it is important to make an escape route and practice it regularly as a family. to protect your family in the case of a fire, practice edith: exit drills in the home plan your escape: draw a floor plan of your home, marking 2 ways out of every room--especially bedrooms. if you do not have enough memory, just draw the floor plan on a separate sheet of paper for your own use. ask your parents to schedule a family meeting. discuss the escape routes with every member of the household. agree on a meeting place outside your home where all members of the family agree to meet in the case of a fire. agree to wait for the fire department. select a meeting place that will not be in the way of the fire fighters. plan to practice your escape route at least twice a year. pick significant days to you remember to practice like and the fourth of july.
