People who reported starting to drink before the age of 15 were four times more likely to also reportmeeting the criteria for alcohol dependence at some point in their lives.

Some common reasons that teens begin to use alcohol is peer pressure. In many cases, teens are pressured into drinking because they think that it will prove that they are “cool”. Another reason is pure curiosity. Some teens may be curious and try it then they eventually get hooked on it which causes problems.
