Clinical empathy is important to view the situation from the patient's perspective. This way there is an understanding between the patient and the healthcare provider and it would lead to trust. Empathizing with the patient may lessen his or her burden and it would provide a sense of comfort. 

Therapeutic communication is established when the patient learns to trust. Empathy helps to communicate one person's ideas in a way that makes sense to others, and it helps them understand others when they communicate with each other.
