1. It provides cultural appreciation. You learn to respect other people's beliefs, customs, while staying true to your own. It also provides a barrier for what should and should not be seen as cultural appropriation. 

2. It keeps you well educated and helps with traveling. By understanding the world better, it makes it easier to travel to different areas and experience more of life.

3. Boosts intelligence. Studies have shown that individuals who are bilingual are more word davy and learn quicker and better than their monolingual counterparts. While monolinguals tend to be better at their own language than bilinguals, bilinguals have the advantage of another language.
