I believe that taxes have an enormous impact on government economic policy nowadays. Taxes seem to be one of the main concerns of voters, and also one of their main complaints. Regardless of the purpose of the tax, voters are generally excited when taxes go down and upset when they go up. The government economic policy is inevitably affected by this attitude.

One of the reforms that I believe are necessary in taxes would be less tax breaks for people with really high incomes. I think that if very rich people were taxed fairly, we would be able to redistribute this to other areas of the economy, benefitting everyone. I think taxes should not be lowered overall, but they should be reassessed so that richer people pay a higher percentage.  The taxes I recommend would improve the government's ability to carry out its functions, because it would reduce the people's capacity to intervene in government while at the same time allowing the government to have more money to fulfill its projects.
