How did american racial attitudes shape south african politics?

The south Africa apartheid regime based its segregation ideas from the American states, especially those of the south.  The apartheid regimes rise and fall reflected changing times in America,beginning in the early 190's, as the regime ultimately bowed to international pressure to end segregation after the whole concept had been abolished in USA.
