De Soto's travels through Georgia created a hostile atmosphere between the Europeans and the Native Americans. He was known to employ harsh means to get the cooperation of the Natives. Another negative impact is that the chief native American kingdoms that were once powerful slowly dissolved because De Soto brought diseases that originated from Europe into Georgia that vastly affected the natives. The diseases made them sick and killed a large portion of the population because they have not developed the immunity against these diseases.

The journey of De Soto’s to the North America had a major effect on the Native Americans that lived in North America. When De Soto’s and his men entered North America, they were the first set of people that met with the majority of the tribes living in North America.

De Soto’s and his men brought numerous problems with them to North America.

Some of the animals that De Soto’s and his men brought to North America have never been seen by the native tribes. During the meetings De Soto’s had with the natives, he introduced horses, war dogs, and pigs to them for the first time.

The natives were so frightened when they saw Spanish dogs because the dogs were extremely big and trained for combat. However the natives later blended with the situation by learning the domestic benefit of horses and pigs.

De Soto’s and his men continued stay in North America had a significant impact on the life of the native. De Soto’s and his men brought diseases to North America.  

The natives were not immune to the diseases. Small pox was one of the diseases the natives contacted from De Soto’s and his men and it happened to be the most detrimental illnesses they contact from them. The disease ravaged the natives tribe and killed about 5 percent of the entire population.
