The crusades were a series of battles that took place over more than two centuries to achieve what end for both muslims and christians?

The Crusades were done to take control of Jerusalem away from the Muslims. The first of the Crusades ( in 1095), is the response of the Western Europe Christians armies to Pope Urban II’s plea war with Muslim forces in the Holy Land. Second crusade (holy war (jihad)) was regaining control of the Muslims of Jerusalem.
