Why did the bristish colonies oppose the sugar act of 1764? it was not passed by their legistlative bodies. parliament was taxing them to raise revenue. parliament was taxing them to regulate commerce. greenville had declared them too undertaxed, and they disagreed with him. it had not been endorsed by king george iii like the rest of the taxes.
