Why was the americanization movement aimed at both immigrants and indians

The Americanization process, when taking place within the US, is referred to the movement that produces the acculturation of immigrants and other annexed populations that coexist in the US territory (for example, the Indians).  These human groups end up adopting the American major customs and values.

The American culture is dominant, exercised by the majority of people in the country, and this is why it has the power to absorb others that are only present in minitorities. These groups have to give up their original customs and way of life if they want to efectively integrate in the society. Examples of acculturation are, for instance, adopting a new language, new types of food and clothes, etc.
