Describe the contributions of key groups (africans, women, and children) to the society and culture of colonial america

Africans developed a society and culture of their own. They had elaborate family structures, which was now possible due to the increasing life expectancy of slaves. They tried to develop nuclear families, but this was always in jeopardy because a family member could be sold at anytime. They developed language and religion of their own. Slaves society was invaded by whites. African house servants were subjected to unwanted sexual advances and bore mulattos (mixed kids) that white fathers ignored, but were accepted into the slave community. There were occasional acts of resistance and at least twice in the colonial period there were actual slave rebellions, such as the Stono Rebellion. On some large plantations, slaves were craftsmen, and set up their own establishments to help buy their freedom.
