In 1942, still in the middle of the war, prices suffered an important rise that brought them to levels of the early twentieth century. In the 1970s and 1980s two real estate bubbles took place that increased the price and then fell again, until the global real estate bubble that began in 1996 and lasted until July 2006 when the subprime mortgage crisis caused the big drop in prices.
