What are the beliefs of enlightenment thinkers and writers

The Enlightenment thinkers and writers centered their ideas around reason as the most important origin of legitimation or authority, therefore undermining the authority of monarchies and the Church. One of the most irritating for the later two was the notion of separation of church and state. Progress and constitutional government were others.

on april 19, 1775, american militia gathered to stop a british company sent from boston to capture supplies allegedly amassed in lexington, massachusetts. the militia fled, and the british left after not finding the supplies.
