Charles l was the second son of James Vl of Scotland and Anne of Denmark.  He became King when his Father died in 1625.  His brother Henry died in 1812 so that left Charles l as the heir.  He automatically became king when he father died.  If his brother Henry had been alive he would have became king. They believed that if you are born to a king and queen then it is your birth right to be that king or queen one day.  They say that this is straight from God.  King Charles l left a very important legacy on England. As a result of Charles’ religious, military, and government actions, England was forced to remove almost all of the power given to the monarchy and transfer it to the parliament.    When Charles became king friction with parliament began at once.  He believed in his divine right to be king and struggled to control Parliament who resented his attempts at absolute rule.  He attempted to dissolve Parliament and he finally did dissolve it in 1629 then imprisoned it's leaders and ruled without them.  He was presented with the petition of Right a declaration of the “rights and liberties of the subject" which he reluctantly agreed to.  Because of King Charles l England became more democratic nation.  Charles l ended absolute monarchy for England.  Then other countries seen what could happen if a monarchy had to much power.
