The first Russian Revolution started in 1905. People in Russia felt discontent and were tired of the social and economic policies of Tsar Nicholas II. They demanded a Constitutional Monarchy instead of an autocracy. There were riots and protest in the streets. Some of them violent. The Union Liberation movement was at the front of these protests that sadly ended with the Bloody Sunday massacre in St. Petersburgh, in January 1905.
