The election of 1996 was a three way race similar to 1992 with the same outcome as to the victor.

Just like the U.S. Presidential Election of 1992, 1996 showed a three way race with Democrat Bill Clinton running for re-election against Republican Bob Dole and Independent Ross Perot.  At first Clinton had difficulty for failing to live up to some of his promises such as cutting taxes to lower the deficit, banning assault rifles etc.  The economy recovered and this enabled Clinton to win the election.

interest groups send representatives to state capitals and to washington, d.c. to put pressure on members of congress and other policymakers. they engage in lobbying, or the organized process of influencing legislation or policy. lobbying can take many forms. interest groups can testify in congressional hearings.
