How did the border ruffians contribute to the ''bleeding kansas'' problem

Series of violent civil confrontation due to the debate over the legality of slavery in the proposed states of Kansas from 1854 and 1861 is known as bleeding Kansas. Electoral fraud, raids and assaults were carried out by border ruffians (Pro Slavery ) and free starters(anti slavery) in Kansas and Missouri. The main issue for the conflict was that whether Kansas would be allowed to enter the union as a slave state or a free state. The border ruffians terrorised the people who were against the slavery  in the states of Kansas to change their stance. They were from the state of Missouri.
