What motivated the founding fathers to include the phrase “we the people” i. the preamble of the u. s. constitution?

They did this to show unity and show they were on the same level as all the other citizens of the United States, this was important because it differentiated them from the monarchy they had escaped from where the King was superior in the eyes of the law and the culture to everyone else.
