Communist movements spread throughout europe after the bolshevik revolution in russia. the leaders of the new soviet union made known that one of their goals was to spread communism throughout the world. communism is an economic system in which the government owns most businesses and property and shares the wealth created by that property equally among the people. (of course, the sharing part never quite happened the way it was supposed to.)

socialism is the belief that government should be active in a role as regulator of the economy and should provide services (health care and education, for example) with tax money. a small socialist movement rose in the united states during the late 1800s and early 1900s, but soon ran afoul of the red scare that swept the nation in the 1920s. socialists, as a political movement, represent only a small percentage of americans today.

1- Socialism didn't found widespread support in the US because of several reasons. The first reason might be because it arrived at the US for a period of time where there were too many things going on. Many protests and riots from the Labor Party and the Red Scare. People were afraid, confused and concerned about other topics rather than caring about Socialism ideals. The second reason might be because many other movements were stepping in harder such as Communism and Anarchism, these ones had much more support and followers. Therefore, not many people did actually care about Socialism diving deep in society.

2- The good things that might come from the government creating more programs and regulations are many. A socialist government would create more health-care programs, would give more scholarships or even become private schools and hospitals public again.

3- The negative aspects which can result from a socialist government getting involved in the economy may be that they might benefit low social classes more than any other else. Therefore, the distribution would not be equal for the rest of the population.
