Why were the founders so concerned about the rise of political parties?

The founders were so concerned about the rise of political parties as they feared that without political unity the country would divide one another based on certain sets of ideas. In addition to this, they believed that it would impair the actual vote for what would be best for the country since the party would only wish to please their political base. But, not all founders were concerned as actually many of the founders took part of political parties. The one man that was severely against this though was George Washington. Besides that though John Adams(second president) and Alexander Hamilton became part of the North based ideology of the Federalist party while Thomas Jefferson(third president) and James Madison(fourth president as well as James Monroe(fifth president) under the Democratic-Republican Party favoring the south. Apart from James Monroe all above were Founders but they all agreed with their points of view. The start of this all was in the 1796 election beginning the divide of what people thought was best under a party rather than the overall best candidate that aligns with what they believe is right.
