The Cold War was a prolonged period of geopolitical tension that occurred between the Soviet Union and the United States. It started at the end of the Second World War in 1945 and ended with the dissolution of The Soviet Union in December 1991.

During these decades, both countries entered in several "contests" such as the race for space exploration, which meant the first man operated shuttle sent to space by the Soviets and subsequent landing of the Moon by the Americans. It also included the "Cuban missile crisis" which almost led both countries to enter a nuclear war in 1962

The Soviet Union was governed under the political philosophy of Communism, which promoted the governance of a strong centralized government which took all decisions regarding political, economic and industrial matters. This form of government was the antithesis of Liberalism, which was the political philosophy under which the United States was governed. Americans feared that Communist ideas would spread in the country, leading to an "ideological" invasion of the Soviet Union in American Soil.

so, although the first graphic located at the left side indicates that not so many people work in industry, this is the second most important sector according to the gdp metrics because of the monetary value that impacts on its country. it does not need to be the most valuable one. if it makes an impact on the country's economy, it will be definitely crucial to it.
