What were the arguments against the united states joining world war ii in the beginning of the war?

At first, the United States wanted no beef with getting in the war. They were letting France and all those other areas fight it out and wanted there nation to be safe. Then, Germany made a huge mistake. They decided to attack the United States allies. So, we couldn't just watch our allies get defeated. We had to join in and help our allies.

The reason they argued is because they had a feeling they could lose the war, if they would to lose they would have a big threat of them being attacked next. They didn't want to put there people in risk so they had really risky choices making their decision.
